My Professional Artefacts
Student Work
Whilst completing my studies at Charles Sturt University, I have been able to develop certain skills as well as explore my creative potential. This has lead me to the creation of many pieces of work that can be used to highlight my ability and knowledge.
Showcasing these pieces is contributing to the development of my digital identity as well as highlighting my authentic brand personality to future employers. In addition, skills and competencies of emerging professionals include the ability to showcase work confidently in order to express content curation and creativity.
These artefacts have been selected carefully in order to represent the best version of my professional self:
Digital Storytelling Website
As apart of my core subject COM129 within my Communication course, I learn about the importance of Digital Society and Global Citizenship as an emerging professional. As part of this, I was assessed on my ability to understand ‘Digital Storytelling’ through an interactive communication output. As an emerging communication professional it is vital to engage with current affairs and trends, so I produced a blog style website to tell the journey of a young women affected by the US Abortion Laws.
Through this artefact I was ale to demonstrate not only my knowledge of trends and affairs, but showcase my writing ability. As well as this, this piece demonstrates my strong relationship with technology and website creation, through the use of embedded images, videos and other media.
This work represents myself as an emerging communication professional who is able to keep in touch with current affairs and trends, and who has strong passion towards personal passions, values and beliefs.
Digital Audience Engagement – Social Media Content
In another core subject COM131 I learnt about Engaging Audience and Social Media Communities, where I was asked to produce social media content for the Minderoo Foundation on the importance of Plastics & Human Health.
Within this artefact I was able to demonstrate my ability to use social media and create engaging content for a specific audience. It also showcases my knowledge on the Indigenous community, which can further demonstrate my cultural and social awareness. This piece demonstrates my ability for content curation, by creating an original movement ‘4 YOU OUT THERE 2’, to target Remote Indigenous Australians.
I hope this artefact displays my digital identity as a professional as one that is culturally in touch with social surroundings, as well as a creative content curator.
Producing a Podcast
In my subject COM132 I learnt about Writing and Producing for the Digital Age. Within this subject I was able to produce a podcast and play with the audio storytelling element. This was different for me as I am normally use to on camera work, however I enjoyed the experience and skills I learnt from this.
The development of the podcast showcases my interviewing skills, as I ask interesting questions to not only make the podcast engaging but also retrieve as much content as I can. It also highlights my technical and software abilities. Within this assessment I used the software Adobe Audition to edit my podcast, I found this enjoyable as I was able to learn new skills for audio editing.
As an emerging professional, I am continually developing my skills and creating artefacts to best display these. I hope to continue my showcase with new work, to contribute to my digital identity.
